Philippines

A Philippines eSIM connects you to SMART or Globe — the two networks that matter — with 5G in Manila, Cebu and most tourist hubs. Install before you fly; activation needs Wi-Fi.

The Philippines' SIM Registration Act (RA 11934) requires identity registration for locally issued SIMs. A travel eSIM bought before your trip is issued abroad and roams onto SMART or Globe, so there is nothing for you to register — the common traveller worry here is a non-issue. Only buying a local SIM in-country triggers registration, with a passport, as a tourist.

When you land
Install over Wi-Fi before you fly. After landing at NAIA, Mactan–Cebu or Clark, enable the line and data roaming — attachment to SMART or Globe is usually under a minute. Airport SIM booths involve registration queues; your eSIM skips all of that.

Common questions

Do I need to register my eSIM under the Philippines' SIM law?
No. RA 11934 covers locally issued SIMs. A travel eSIM bought before your trip is issued abroad and roams onto SMART or Globe — there is nothing to register. Only a local SIM bought in-country needs registration (passport required for tourists).
Which network is better, SMART or Globe?
They trade places by island: SMART often edges rural coverage, Globe is strong in Metro Manila and Cebu. Both run 5G in the cities. Our plan pages name the network each plan roams onto, so check against your actual itinerary rather than a national average.
Will my eSIM work on remote islands and while island-hopping?
In towns and along ferry routes, usually yes on 4G. On small islands, at sea and inland in the mountains, expect gaps on every network. Download offline maps and your boat/hotel confirmations before leaving a covered area.
